We were honored as a Daily Point of Light Award recipient by Points of Light (founded by George H.W. Bush) and featured on Points of Light's website.
On Jan. 8, 1993, President George H. W. Bush submitted a report to the nation on his efforts to engage Americans in service. He called these volunteers “points of light.” The power of the individual to spark change and improve the world – that’s what the Daily Point of Light Award celebrates, with more than 6,000 winners so far.
We were one of Voyage ATL Magazine’s Most Inspiring Stories! As part of our advocacy, we were featured on their website.
“Every neighborhood in Atlanta has its own vibe, style, culture and history, but what consistently amazes us is not what differentiates the various neighborhoods but rather what they all have in common. From East Atlanta to Marietta (and everywhere in between) we’ve been blown away by how many creative and talented people call Atlanta home. Check out some of the inspiring stories we’ve discovered throughout the city.”- description from Voyage ATL
Our founder was honored as an Everyday Young Hero by Youth Service America. Everyday Young Heroes are young people, ages 5-25, who are improving their communities through service to others and making significant progress in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Each week, the YSA Team selects one young person out of hundreds of applicants to receive this honor. The chosen youth can have a project that is developed in or outside of the classroom, in conjunction with an organization or religious institution, or can be an initiative or organization they started on his or her own or with their friends. Projects can provide a direct service, be philanthropic, or raise awareness or advocacy around a particular community need.
We appeared on the Better Schools Podcast and talked about our story + what we do, as well as answering several questions about the FAFSA form.
We were honored to have been featured by VOX ATL Magazine, and we are so grateful for our community's incredible support. Thank you, VOX ATL!
Superintendent Woods came to our founder's school to hear a presentation by her. Ila gave a 20-minute presentation to Woods about College Pathway, and she led Woods and CCSD Superintendent Dr. Brian Hightower through a PowerPoint presentation over lunch that described her idea and the work she has done thus far, including her vision for special events, fundraising, a website and a smartphone app.
We were featured on the Alliance for Excellent Education's website, and a summary of our work was shown!
