"My name is Susan McGuinness and I teach 8th grade math at E.T. Booth Middle School. I grew up calling the Cherokee County School District my home as I went to Little River Elementary, Johnston Elementary, Dean Rusk Middle School, and Sequoyah High School. After high school, I went to North Metro Technical College and received a degree in Cosmetology. I worked as a cosmetologist to put myself through school at Kennesaw State University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education. This allows me to teach 6th grade through 12th grade mathematics. While finishing my final few weeks at Kennesaw State, I was offered the job teaching 8th grade math at E. T. Booth Middle School and I have been so honored and blessed to be a part of an amazing school with a great staff and wonderful kids. During my first few years, I added a reading certification, completed Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Training, and received my gifted certification as well. I’ve been with Booth for five years now and I am currently teaching Honors Accelerated Algebra 1/Geometry A, Honors Algebra 1, and Advanced Math 8. Math is truly my passion and I adore teaching my eighth graders."
